Our mission
Promote responsible amateur radio, strengthen emergency communications capacity, and share technical knowledge with the community — especially young people working toward licensing.
History
On 21 January 1993, Mr. Pradeep V. Philip, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Virudhunagar District, inaugurated the International Radio Communicators Club (IRCOM) with callsign VU2IRC in Rajapalayam. Through the club's service, the Rajapalayam Ham Club received the Rajiv Gandhi Award in 1994.
The organization trains students and organizes the ASOC examination conducted by the WPC Wing, Ministry of Telecommunications, Government of India. Today, as Rajapalayam International Radio Communicators Club (VU2IRD), members continue disaster communications, public awareness, technical development, and licensing support across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
